Flexible dates, nearby airports, baggage costs and booking timing — simple habits that lower the price of your next ticket.

Flight prices move all the time, but a few simple habits will help you pay less almost every time you book.

1. Be flexible by a few days

Moving your departure by one or two days can change the price a lot. On Waylora's comparison page, the "cheapest days" strip shows recent prices around your date so you can pick the best day at a glance.

2. Compare, then book with the seller

Different airlines and travel sites sell the same flight at different prices. Comparing first and then booking directly with the seller gives you the best price and a booking you can manage with them.

3. Check nearby airports

In Iraq, compare Baghdad, Najaf, Basra and Erbil when your route allows. At the other end, Istanbul has two airports (IST and SAW) and London has several — the cheaper one might suit you just as well.

4. Book at the right time

For regional trips, booking roughly one to three months ahead is usually a good window. For holidays like Eid, summer and New Year, book earlier — prices rise as seats sell out.

5. Count the baggage

Low-cost airlines often show a low fare without checked baggage. Add the bag price before comparing — sometimes a full-service airline ends up cheaper.

6. Mid-week is often cheaper

Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday departures are frequently cheaper than Friday or Sunday, especially on routes popular with weekend travellers.

7. One-way vs return

Sometimes two one-way tickets on different airlines cost less than a return. Check both options.

8. Check the final price

Prices shown in comparisons are recently found fares. Always check the final price, baggage and fare rules on the seller's website before paying.

9. Know your rights

If your flight is delayed or cancelled, you may be owed compensation or care from the airline. Keep your boarding pass and receipts.
